Brian Harris - Golden Dozen Scholarship winner

The National Football  Foundation and College Hall of Fame, last night honored 35 Scholar Athlete Football Players at Westchester Country Club in Rye at the 41 st Annual Awards Banquet.


Stepinac’s Brian Harris was selected to the Golden Dozen for his accomplishments here at Stepinac the past 4 years. Brian has been Varsity Captain for 2 years & a 3 year starter for Crusaders. Harris has been named- All State, All County, All CHSFL & MVP of the 2013-2014 Crusaders.


Last Night Brian received the Chris Mello Scholarship at banquet. The  scholarship award was presented by Mr Doug Mello in the name of his son Christopher  Melo. Chris , a passenger on one of the planes that were hijacked on 9/11, that went down south of Washington DC when passengers fought the hijackers.  Mr Doug Mello speech about award & his son was heart warming. As he announced that Brian was the winner of award. Brian instead of going to area where awards were handed out went & gave Mr Mello a hug at podium, We were very proud of his actions & would not expect anything less from him.  Mr Mello was also shocked to hear that Brian’s Birthday is on 9/11 each year. We would like to congratulate Brian & his Family on a job well done.
