WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Archbishop Stepinac football star Daniel Pomposello has made a verbal commitment to attend the University of New Haven in the fall on a football scholarship.

Pomposello, a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman who was born in Yorktown and now lives in White Plains, made his decision after visiting the Connecticut college this past weekend.

"The University of New Haven is a great fit for me, for both football and academics," Pomposello said. "From the minute I stepped on campus I knew that this is where I wanted to be. From the coaches, players and students I met, I felt like I was already part of their family. That's important to me because that's how it is at Stepinac. Everyone is family and looks out for each other."

Pomposello was All-Catholic High Schools Football League, All-State honorable mention, a three-year varsity starter and captain of the 2012 team. He credited his career at Stepinac for his success as a student athlete.

"Stepinac's teachers and coaches have always encouraged and reinforced morals and values that I will take with me throughout life," Pomposello said. "My mother and I couldn't be any happier. I can't wait to get started, and can't wait to be a part of the [New Haven] Charger tradition
