Player of Week- Signing Day at Stepinac

Posted Tuesday, February 07, 2012 by Mike O'Donnell
A big Day for Stepinac Football was signing Day 2012. A nice crowd were on hand & media from all over to watch 3 Stepinac Football Players sign there letters in front of Fr Tom Collins & the Stepinac Coaching staff. The recruiting season is a very difficult one for all involved & we were very happy that these three young men were ready to sign with respected Universities. Jesse Gwin signed first to CW Post University. A division 2 school that recruits the CHSFL very hard. Gwin was a two year Off line starter for Crusaders.
Up next was Przemyslaw Popek, who found the perfect school to bring his big leg. Zemy wants to study Physical Therapy & Stony Brook has an outstanding program. Stony Brook saw Przemyslaw kicking the ball out of endzone after each score at this year Senior bowl & decided they wanted him.
Last signee of day was Austin Taps. The Hudson Valley Player of year, Lohud, com Player of year & CHSFL Defensive Player of Year. Austin & his family were very proud to put on the hat of U Penn. One of the best Business schools in the country. We have become big fans of CW Post, Stony Brook & Penn for next 4 years.
More Crusaders will sign in the days to come. Watching them take the next ste to college is an important one for program. We are very proud of all our Seniors accomplishments & look forward to the other players signing soon.
