For the first time since 1967, Stepinac football defeated Chaminade in an exciting 28-21 game that saw a Hail Mary pass at the end of the game fall just short on the 5 yard line. The game was a back and forth effort that saw plenty of big plays, costly penalties and turnovers, as well as good hard nosed football. Stepinac caused several turnovers on special teams, and converted those opportunities into touchdowns which turned out to be the difference in the game. Chaminade had an opportunity at the end of the game on the strength of a blocked punt to set up a scoring chance, but got called for an offensive holding penalty which brought them back to midfield, setting up a last ditch hail mary pass that was caught short on the 5 yard line.
Stepinac improves to 2-0 and will look to build on this victory when they play @ Kellenberg Memorial, 9/23 at 7:00 PM.
