A 16 team field competed at the White Plains HS 2 nd annual Big Apple Classic 7 on 7. A long & gruling day saw the Crusaders lose opening game ot John Jay Cross River & then win 5 games in a row to take the title home.  It was a  fun day & saome great efforts. Brian Byrne was named MVP & had 5 interceptions on day. Jeff Clack had 7 interceptions. Austin Taps, Nick Euvino teamed  up with Tyrell Goodman  for a bunch of TDs during the games. The key to 7 on 7 's is to get better.  Thanks to White Plains HS for running a first class event it was  a good start to the summer 7 on 7 season.

“Big Apple” 7 on 7 results

As you may have heard, Stepinac was the winner of the “Big Apple” on Saturday at White Plains High School. The Crusaders met Irvington in the final and earned the victory.

As I mentioned last week, Velocity Sports Performance also ran a mini-combine. It included three events: a 40-yard dash, and tests in the bench press and vertical jump. Here are the winners of the three events:

40-yard dash — Tareek Turner, Clarkstown North, Sr., RB
Bench press — Donnie Simmons, Stepinac, Sr., TE/DE
Vertical jump — Jeff Clack, Stepinac, Sr., RB

White Plains coach Skip Stevens sent me an e-mail to say the event was a “great success.” It was obviously quick a kick-off event for the football season that is the last couple months of the offseason, if you know what I mean.
