Stepinac's O'Donnell, Iona Prep's Mahoney inducted into CHSAA Hall of Fame

Stepinac football coach and athletic director Mike O'Donnell and Iona Prep athletic director Bernie Mahoney were both inducted to the CHSAA Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Other selections were Kellenberg's Kevin Buckley, Chaminade's George Dlugolonski, Molloy's Don Green, Holy Trinity's Jack Phelan and baseball umpire John Kehoe.
O'Donnell has worked at Stepinac since joining the football staff in 1980. Since taking over as head coach in 1988, Stepinac has won two division championships and two league championships.
"This is a very prestigious honor," O'Donnell said. "It shows how much your work was appreciated."
Mahoney, a former baseball coach at Mount St. Michael, has been involved with the CHSAA for 35 years.
Stepinac had about 60-70 people turn out to honor Coach O'D's induction to Hall of fame. The list included not only coach's family but many ex players & friends & coaches who have worked & played for him over the years. In attendance were Marty Conlon , Eric Ogbogu, Brendan Nugent , Tyler Nugent & many others. Ex Stepinac great coaches Frank Henderson, Gene Doris & Don Larkin were also in attendance. It was a great night for Coach & for Stepinac.
