Mohan wins MVP award

Posted Tuesday, December 20, 2005 by Mike ODonnell
Over 300 people packed the WP Woman's club to attend the annual football dinner. It was a very nice evening & all players from all 3 levels were honored. Paul Mohan recieved the MVP Award for his great play on the field this season. Paul Finished seasons with 83 tackles switching form Strong safety , OLB & ILB. Paul greatest accomplishments were probably in the lockerroom where he showed outstanding leadership.
Chris Giardini was awarded the Joseph R Riverso Lineman award. Chris was just starting to peak when an knee injury ended his season missing last 5 games . Giardini is making a big decision- he has been offered from Cornell, Colgate , Lehigh , Holy Cross & others. Good luck Chris on your choice. We know you will make the right choice .
Pat Grimes Award went to Bobby McDonough. Two year starter at ILB. Bobby was our coach on the field all season. Bobby really matured into a great leader on & off the field this year.
Leadership awards were given to Pat Mazzaroni & Mark Maddalo
Both players were injured & unable to play this season. Patrick became Stepinac's 1st Grad asst & sports information director wrapped up in one. His work with all Stepinac's sports is unbelievable. We Thank Patrick for all he does.
Mark Maddalo hurt his shoulder on first couple of plays at our only scrimage. He tried many times to return but his shoulder just wouldn't let him. He still made every practice & did what ever the coaching staff needed on game day. Always showing great leadership. Mark is also one of Stepinac's premier students [ he just aced the math SAT's, that's 800!!].
The Crusader Award for the best two way player went to Justin Kolman. Justin started at OG & DT while also leading the CHSFL AA in punting. Justin Moved any where he was asked when injuries started to pile up. He had a great Senior season.

Congratulations to all Cruasders who won awards at dinner & to all Seniors who are making those huge decisions on what college to attend.
Juniors have been working hard in the weightroom getting ready for 2006.
